5 Winter Hair Care Tips for Healthy Hair

Hey Ladies so I am back for another post, today I want to share with you my five tips that will keep your hair healthy this winter.
Winter is about to set in and with it comes the weather which makes everything dry, rough and flaky! Whipping winds, dry air and chilly temps can create havoc for your gorgeous hair! I hope these tips will help you maintain your healthy hair this winter!

#1. Wear Hat
Before leaving the house protect your hair with a nice hat. While some women don't like to mess up their hair with a hat and have the dreaded hat hair, it will be worth it when winter is over. While I am new to wearing hats, I got this cute satin lined hat for Christmas! The hat is from a company called Caheez. Their hats are satin lined which helps keep hair smooth and shiny. Their website is http://www.caheez.com or you can google silk/satin lined hats and I am sure many shops will show up.

#2. Trim Your Hair
If you already have dry or split ends not trimming before or during winter months will make matters worse. So have your hair trimmed about half an inch to one inch depending on your damage, or if you are growing your hair like myself tell your hairstylist that you want dusting. There are techniques now a days that you can remove your split ends without removing length. Trimming your hair will keep it from drying even more during the cold, windy winter months.

#3. Use Less Heat
Many may not realize that using excessive heat and the cold winter air can cause serious damage to your hair. Indoor heating is going to suck some of the moisture from your hair, don't help, by using flatirons, blow dryers and curling irons.  If you must use heat after washing try letting your hair dry about 80% before you start using the blow dryer or blow dry your hair on cool.

# 4. Deep Condition
Deep conditioning during the winter is a very important step to keeping your hair healthy and moisturized. Heated homes and work areas can dry out your hair, combat this by taking the time to do extra deep conditioning. Look for products which hold in moisture and use a good deep conditioner about once a week.

#5. Protective Styling
I know I mention this in almost every post, but protective styling plays a big part in achieving healthy hair. If you are an avid reader/watcher of hair blogs or vloggers then you know that almost all of them promote protective styling, especially during the winter months. With all of the different types of hair styles, such as wig, weaves, buns, topknots and braids, there is a protective style for everyone. So find one you like or try them all just protect your hair this winter!

on another note, why o why am I in the hospital with my son (he's getting a kidney stone surgery today) and I've been sleeping on this cotton pillowcase for the past 2 days! My hair is dry as the Sahara. I told my husband to make sure he bring my hair butter and my satin scarf when he comes lol I'm going to put my hair in two dutch braids to help :-)
